oh christmas tree

i really wanted to get a tree this year. it was going to be beautiful, in the front window with lights and pretty ornaments so people would smile when they walked by and saw it, my apartment looking so warm and full of christmas and love.
well.
i couldn't decide between a live tree or a soon to die tree, and delancy is kind of far away for me to carry a tree home...and so i ended up decorating the ridiculously large housewarming present the hunekes gave me some 6 years ago.
i only put up my most special ornaments, starting of course with grimace.

i cleaned out my storage space last week, in part so i could access my christmas decorations. in doing so, i came across many unfinished projects.
when i was a little lady, my grandpa made me a crib for my dolls. it worked ok for the dolls i guess, but it was way better when i squeezed into it myself. the bottom kept popping out, i don't know how many times it required repair. the crib has been a wobbly mess in my storage for years. i took it apart, glued and nailed it back together, and now miss claire a proper princess bed (adjacent to the radiator). i'll refinish it soon, but she seems to like it just fine as is.

hometown holidays

leslie and i went to ptown to freeze and watch the parade (thanks les), to see santa and the tree lighting (which we missed due to the COLD), and go to a gingerbread house making pajama party.

it was 33 degrees when we left pleasanton. california girls don't own clothes capable of protecting them from cold like this. i've developed some sort of asthma/bronchitis hybrid that leaves me wheezing and coughing for hours after any time ventured out of doors. you know what feels perfect though? bikram. sweet lord i've never loved that stinky 105 degree studio so much.
